Orange County Breast Implants

You have many options when it comes to choosing the right breast implants for your breast augmentation surgery. During your private consultation, Dr. Kemsley will talk with you about your breast enlargement goals and help you make the right decision for you. He offers a wide selection of Orange County breast implants including saline and silicone gel.

Implant Material Options

Your decision regarding breast implant fill material will be largely based on personal preference. Dr. Kemsley offers his Orange County breast enhancement patients two choices:

  • Saline implants have a silicone shell and are filled with a salt-water solution. They are rolled up and inserted into the body before they are inflated, which allows them to be inserted through a small, inconspicuous incision. The doctor can adjust the amount of fluid the implant after it is placed, allowing a more customized result. If leakage occurs, the fluid is harmless to the body. Disadvantages of saline implants include rippling, and a less natural feel, although placement under the chest muscle greatly improves these concerns.
  • Silicone implants also have a silicone shell, but are filled with a silicone gel that reduces rippling and feels more like natural breasts. After being taken off the market by the FDA to study their safety, improved silicone implants have been available to women age 22 and over since November 2006.

Texture

The outer surface of the breast implant can either be smooth or textured. Almost all of Dr. Kemsley's breast enlargement patients considering breast implants in Orange County choose smooth implants because they move freely within the breast pocket producing a softer and more natural feel.

Breast Implant Shape and Profile

The breast implant profile specifies the degree to which the implant protrudes, or sticks out, from the chest wall. Dr. Kemsley will help you choose the implant profile that is best suited to your breast enlargement goals and your body type to give your new breast shape a more natural look. The available profiles include:

  • Low profile implants benefit women who need more fullness and less projection.
  • Moderate plus profile implants are ideal for women who need both fullness and projection.
  • High profile implants are designed for women who need mostly projection and have a narrow chest.
  • Teardrop or "anatomical" implants are thin at the top and full at the bottom. These implants, which are rarely used anymore, have an unnatural shape and a stiff, thick shell that be felt through the skin.
