Implant Material Options

Your decision regarding breast implant fill material will be largely based on personal preference. Dr. Kemsley offers his Orange County breast enhancement patients two choices:

• Saline implants have a silicone shell and are filled with a salt-water solution. They are rolled up and inserted into the body before they are inflated, which allows them to be inserted through a small, inconspicuous incision. The doctor can adjust the amount of fluid the implant after it is placed, allowing a more customized result. If leakage occurs, the fluid is harmless to the body. • Teardrop or "anatomical" implants are thin at the top and full at the bottom. These implants, which are rarely used anymore, have an unnatural shape and a stiff, thick shell that be felt through the skin.
